MY PROFILE

My name is Hironobu Yoshioka. My first name means nothing special. It was named to match with my family name in the number of strokes in the letters in Chinese character. It depends on families or indivisuals whether the importance is the meaning of the name or the number of strokes.

I live in Matsudo-city,Chiba prefecture,Japan. My city is one of the many satellite cities of Tokyo, which is next to Tokyo, and the population of this is about half a million.

I am thirty two years old, but I am still single, so I live with my parents, a grandmother and a little sister. I have two little sisters, and the first little sister has already got married, so we don't live together. She has a son who is very cute, so I miss him now.

When I was in University, I majored in Civil Engineering, but now I worked as a IT engineer in a telephone company named NTT(Nippon Telephone and Telegram), which is like AT&T in America. I set up servers and network systems and sometimes write programmes or scripts. Most workers except for little elite in my company are not diligent because it is a half private and a half state company, so my company has job security. I hate that. I think human beings should study all the life.

It's very important for my job to study English, because all of the computer technologies come from America, and needless to say, they are written in English. They will be translated into Japanese before long, but if I could understand them very well, I would be able to adopt new technologies immediately. So I study English now.

Now, why am I studying not American English but British English? I don't know why. Probably this reason is similar to that I prefer watching football to watching baseball, but if I choose to play one of them, I will choose baseball. I don't know why as well.

In the future I hope to work in the international company to utilize English which I study here. If I don't forget to work hard, this dream will come true!!
